Lumina Academy x BTEC FPT | Behind Blockbuster VFX Production Workshop
Recently, Lumina Academy, in collaboration with BTEC FPT, successfully organized the workshop "Behind Blockbuster VFX Production", offering Graphic Design students an exclusive opportunity to discover how cinematic visual effects are created for large-scale film productions.
Bringing together students passionate about filmmaking, CGI, and digital art, the workshop provided practical industry knowledge that goes far beyond classroom theory.
UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLETE CINEMATIC VFX PIPELINE
Participants were guided through the entire visual effects production process - from concept development and storyboard planning to compositing and final post-production.
Rather than focusing solely on software, the workshop emphasized the production pipeline, collaborative workflows, and creative decision-making required to deliver high-quality cinematic visuals.
REAL FILM CASE STUDIES
One of the highlights of the event was the in-depth analysis of Vietnamese film projects, including "Mưa Đỏ" and "Thám tử Kiên."
Students gained valuable insights into how artists create digital environments, realistic lighting, explosions, materials, and seamlessly integrate CGI into live-action footage to produce convincing visual effects.
These real-world examples helped bridge the gap between academic learning and professional studio production.
LEARNING FROM INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
The workshop featured presentations by Nguyễn Phúc Thành and Đỗ Minh, who shared their professional experiences working in the 3D and VFX industry.
Their sessions covered career development pathways, essential production skills, current industry trends, and the qualities international studios expect from entry-level VFX and 3D artists.
The interactive Q&A session also gave students the opportunity to discuss career planning, portfolio development, and the realities of working in the visual effects industry.
